Shooting from behind cover

This course is designed to familiarize students how to fight from behind cover. This course will demonstrate different firing positions from behind cover using their rifle and pistol. Due to the availability of price of ammunition, this course will allow the use of a quality .22LR Carbine and Pistol.

• Recap of Mechanical Offset and how to account for it.          
  • Pistol
  • AR-15/M4  
• Firing and reloading from behind cover
• Transition drills from carbine to pistol
• Target identification
• Various firing techniques and positions
• Shooting on the move
• Threat transitioning while behind cover

Equipment needed for the course

• A quality semiautomatic pistol chambered in .380, 9mm, 40S&W, 357Sig or 45acp
• Quality semiautomatic .22LR pistol
• AR-15 or Carbine chambered in 556,223, 9mm, 7.62x39 or 300blk
• Quality .22LR Carbine or .22LR conversion
• Sling for rifle
• Quality made holster. Drop leg holsters are allowed in this course.
• 3 magazines for double stack pistols or 4 magazines for single stack pistols.
• 3 magazines for the shooters rifle/carbine.
• If you do not have enough AR magazines, contact us to arrange extra magazines.
• Magazine holders that attaches to a belt.
• 100 rounds of FACTORY LOADED pistol ammunition.
• 150 rounds of FACTORY LOADED rifle ammunition.
• Proper PPE          
  • Hearing protection                  
    • Electronic preferred but not required  
  • Eye Protection (clear lenses for night time)
  • Long pants
  • Boots, sneakers are recommended, No flip-flops, sandals, etc.
  • Knee pads are recommended but not required.  
• Extra batteries for optics.
• Bug spray
• Bottled water or Gatorade          
  • A cooler with ice will be on the range for everyone to use.  
• Folding or camping chairs are highly recommended.
• Gun Cleaning Kit
• Note pad and pen
• Pate carriers, helmets and other equipment can be worn with approval from the Instructors and RSO.
