Course Overview

​

This course is designed to build off the fundamentals the officers were taught in the academy and other training environments. Each of the sections and drills will give the officer the fundamentals, skills and knowledge of their firearm and how to properly put rounds on target while in a high stress environment. 

​​

  1. The different stances and how to utilize them in the field. 

  2. Proper grip

  3. How to acquire a proper sight picture. (Red Dot and Iron Sights)

  4. Offhand shooting techniques

  5. How to properly and safely clear malfunctions.

    1. Single hand and two handed techniques​

  6. Reload techniques

    1. Have to vs Want to​

  7. Threat De-escalations and Situational Awareness Training. 

  8. How to break down and clean the pistols

​

Officers will run through various drill that will consist of a Static Range and a Dynamic Range. Shooting while moving is covered in this course and each officer is expected to participate in these exercises.

Required equipment for a successful course completion.  (*) annotates optional equipment

  • Semiautomatic pistol 

  • 3 Magazines 

  • 350 Rounds of factory loaded ammunition

  • Proper PPE

    • Hearing Protection​

      • Electronic is preferred but not required

    • Eye Protection

      • Sunglasses if Z81+ rated​

    • Long pants

    • Closed toe shoes or boots with good foot and ankle support

  • Duty Belt 

  • * Ball cap 

  • * SunScreen

  • * Bug Spray

  • Bottled water or Gatorade

    • An ice chest will be on the range to keep drinks cool.​

  • Snacks

  • Folding chairs are highly recommended

  • Pen and Notepad

If the officer is needing to qualify with their duty weapon, please let the staff know so we can facilitate the course of fire at the end of the day. Please note the 350 round count does not account for this course of fire.
